The Gospel

Romans 1:16-17I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believes to the Jew first and also to the Greek.

In these words Paul the apostle Paul gives us the essence of our mission in a statement of definition, inspiration and hope.  The statement defines the gospel with divine insight that extends beyond the Greek word meaning.  Gospel literally means ‘good news’, however this definition explores with great specificity the nature of that good news – power to save whosoever will!

We believe that Jesus can save us from the penalty of sin – Romans 6:23; Jesus can save us from the  power of sin – Jude 24; and Jesus can save us from the presence of sin – Romans 6:16-22. And this can be right here on earth!  Jesus not only promises to do these things, but, with our cooperation takes the responsibility for making it happen – I Thessalonians 5:23-24.

Since Jesus takes responsibility for accomplishing this task of salvation we can focus on staying out of his way and seeking to take personal credit or merit for any victories we see in our lives.  Job, who is called perfect by God, confessed that if he personally claimed to be perfect his mouth would proved him to be perverse. Job 1:1, 8; 9:20-21.

Thus we stand as a community of believers sharing the gospel of Christ and experiencing the life of Christ as we are daily transformed by Christ.
